Zero XB: a compact electric motorcycle for the city and off-road

Release date: Summer 2025 — Zero Motorcycles has begun deliveries of the new model to customers. Note: The Zero XB itself was unveiled on November 5, 2024, at EICMA; therefore, it is more accurate to classify it as a 2025 model based on its actual market launch, rather than a 2025 premiere.

Zero Motorcycles created the XB as one of the most accessible entry points into the world of electric motorcycles.

The model's key feature is its low weight. The Zero XB weighs around 63 kg , making it highly lightweight and maneuverable. It is designed for short trips, city streets, and light off-road use.

The design features a removable 2.4 kWh battery. It can be taken out of the motorcycle and charged separately, which is particularly convenient for owners who cannot install a charger right next to their parking spot.

Zero claims a top speed of around 80 km/h and a range of up to 65 km under specific test conditions. The electric motor's power output reaches approximately 7.5 kW.

Charging with the standard charger takes approximately 2.5 hours to reach 95% capacity. The manufacturer has also provided the option to install an additional battery, extending the riding range.

The XB features adjustable suspension and 19-inch wheels . This allows the motorcycle to be used not only on asphalt but also on dirt roads and light trails.

Another feature is the electronic traction control system. The driver can select settings based on the road surface and driving conditions.

In Europe, the Zero XB received road certification, whereas in North America, the model was positioned primarily as an off-road vehicle. Consequently, specifications and operating regulations vary by market.

The launch price was approximately €4,500 in Europe and $4,195 in North America.

The Zero XB is interesting primarily due to its concept. It is not an attempt to create an electric motorcycle with maximum power. The company took the opposite approach: reducing weight, simplifying the design, and making electric transport more accessible.

For a novice rider, such a machine might prove far more intuitive than a heavy electric motorcycle with an output of tens of kilowatts.
