Leapmotor B03X Launches in Europe: A New Compact Electric City Car

Leapmotor has opened orders for the new B03X electric crossover in the European market. The model belongs to the compact segment and is designed primarily for city and daily driving.

Orders in Europe opened in early July. In Germany, it was officially stated that orders began on July 1, 2026, while Leapmotor’s pan-European press release was published on July 6, 2026.

Compact body for the city

The B03X has a length of 4.27 m, a width of 1.81 m, and a height of approximately 1.64 m. The wheelbase is 2.605 m.

In terms of size, the vehicle sits between small city electric cars and larger crossovers. At the same time, Leapmotor emphasizes a reasonably spacious interior and everyday practicality.

For city driving, this means a reasonably compact body, yet without the need to switch to a tiny car.

Two batteries

In Europe, the B03X is offered with two LFP battery options:

39.8 kWh — up to 292 km WLTP;

53.0 kWh — up to 382 km WLTP.

Thus, the larger battery provides a noticeably greater range, making the vehicle an attractive option not only for city driving but also for regular intercity trips.

However, WLTP figures are standardized values. Real-world range will depend on temperature, speed, load, and driving conditions.

Fast charging

One of the most interesting features of the B03X is the ability to use 2.5C charging technology.

Leapmotor states that DC charging from 30% to 80% takes about 16 minutes. For the owner, this means that a significant amount of energy can be replenished during a brief stop.

It is precisely this characteristic that may prove more important in everyday use than the vehicle's maximum power.

Front electric motor

Depending on the version, the B03X is equipped with an electric motor producing 130 kW (176 hp) or 145 kW (197 hp).

The maximum torque is 200 Nm. The more powerful version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds, and the top speed is 160 km/h.

It has front-wheel drive.

Two trim levels

The European version of the B03X features a fairly simple model lineup structure: Life and Design.

For example, in Portugal, the official prices are:

Leapmotor B03X — version comparison

Model Battery WLTP range Power 0–100 km/h acceleration Charging 30–80% Price
B03X Life 39.8 kWh up to 292 km 130 kW / 176 hp — ≈ 16 minutes ≈ €24,900
B03X Design 53.0 kWh up to 382 km 145 kW / 197 hp 8.6 seconds ≈ 16 minutes ≈ €28,285

Prices and specifications may vary depending on the European country, trim level, and sales conditions. The driving range is based on the WLTP cycle.

Prices vary from country to country. For example, the official starting price in Germany is €24,900, whereas in France it is €23,400. Therefore, it is best not to cite a single "European price" as a universal figure in the article.

What an average driver gets

The B03X is interesting primarily for its combination of several features: a compact body, an electric powertrain, a choice of two batteries, and relatively fast charging.

For someone who drives primarily in the city, the entry-level version with a 39.8 kWh battery may prove sufficient. The more expensive version with a 53 kWh battery appears to be a more versatile option for those who regularly make longer trips.

At the same time, the B03X cannot be described as an ultra-compact city car. Its length exceeds four meters, making it closer in size to a small crossover than to a classic microcar.

The B03X is not just an urban electric car.

Leapmotor positions the B03X as a global model developed from the outset for international markets. In China, the vehicle is related to the A10 model; however, the European version features a different designation and a more powerful powertrain.

This is a significant moment for the European market: the vehicle is arriving not as an experimental model, but as part of Leapmotor’s international strategy, backed by Stellantis.

Is it worth paying attention to?

The B03X looks interesting primarily for buyers who want to switch to an electric vehicle but do not want to get a large SUV.

Key advantages of the model:
- compact dimensions for a crossover;
- a choice of two batteries;
- up to 382 km WLTP;
- claimed 30–80% charge in approximately 16 minutes;
- front electric motor up to 145 kW;
- the price in some European countries is below €25,000 before accounting for local programs and conditions.

However, the final choice will depend heavily on the country, as prices, trim levels, subsidies, and purchasing conditions vary across Europe.
