Waze, the Google-owned navigation app, has rolled out one of its biggest updates in recent years. The new version features AI capabilities, personalized route planning, and a dedicated mode for motorcyclists.
One of the key new features is an improved voice reporting system powered by Google Gemini AI. Drivers can now simply describe accidents, road closures, or other incidents in their own words, without needing to use predefined commands. The AI automatically recognizes the information provided and helps relay it more quickly to other Waze users.
The update also introduces personalized navigation. The app analyzes the driver's habits and suggests routes that match their preferences. For example, if a user frequently chooses highways or avoids toll roads, Waze will take this into account when planning future trips.
Special attention has also been paid to motorcyclists. The new Motorcycle Mode uses routing tailored for two-wheeled vehicles and warns of potentially hazardous road sections, such as potholes, uneven surfaces, or other obstacles.
Another new feature is "Less Chatty" mode, which reduces the number of voice notifications during a trip. This allows drivers to listen to music or podcasts with fewer interruptions while still receiving the most important navigation alerts.
A new version of Waze is gradually rolling out to Android and iOS devices worldwide. Google notes that the update aims to make navigation even more convenient, safe, and personalized, while preserving Waze's key advantage: real-time traffic information generated by the user community itself.
