GAMMA Technologies has released an update to its mobile application for construction monitoring using augmented reality (AR). A key focus of release 8.2 is the integration of 3D BIM models with traditional 2D drawings and cloud-based data exchange environments.
Key new features in version 8.2:
Integration of 2D drawings from Autodesk Forma: 2D plans and schematics linked to 3D models within the Autodesk Forma ecosystem are now displayed directly over the video feed in AR mode.
Inspectors can place 2D annotations and notes directly on virtual building elements.
Synchronizable inspection forms: Field notes, inspection reports, and violation checklists are completed using the updated forms module, which automatically synchronizes data with the project in Autodesk Forma.
Updated measurement tool: Distances on the site can be measured either in free mode or by locking onto orthogonal structural edges (featuring snapping to nodes for centimeter-level accuracy).
Interface optimization: Navigation menu ergonomics have been improved, and rendering stability has been enhanced when working with large BIM models on tablets and smartphones.
Application: The app is used by technical supervision engineers, site managers, and BIM coordinators to overlay the virtual design onto the physical site, verify concealed utilities before wall enclosure, and conduct immediate acceptance inspections.
Release date: August 11, 2026.
