Bolt has announced a partnership with autonomous driving technology developer Pony.ai. The companies intend to jointly accelerate the deployment of driverless cars and robotaxis in European cities.
As part of the collaboration, Pony.ai will provide autonomous driving technologies, while Bolt will contribute its expertise in urban mobility and its transportation platform. The partners plan to work on integrating autonomous vehicles into Bolt’s services and developing future robotaxi services in Europe.
Luxembourg will be one of the first locations for this collaboration; Bolt, Pony.ai, and Stellantis have announced the launch of an autonomous vehicle testing program there. The trials aim to assess the technology's safety and efficiency in real-world urban conditions, as well as the readiness of local infrastructure and regulations for the use of driverless cars.
For the project, Pony.ai will provide vehicles equipped with Gen-7 autonomous driving technology, while Stellantis will contribute the vehicle platform and engineering expertise. Ultimately, the results are expected to help prepare the technologies for the broader adoption of autonomous mobility in Europe.
Bolt views autonomous transport as a key area for the long-term development of urban mobility. The company is already collaborating with other manufacturers and technology firms, gradually expanding its work with SAE Level 4 vehicles capable of operating without a driver under specific conditions.
