WayRay advances AR navigation: digital information appears right before your eyes.

The Swiss technology company WayRay continues to develop the Deep Reality Display augmented reality system, which is designed to display digital information directly within a person's field of view.

In automotive applications, the technology can be used for navigation: instead of constantly looking at the car's display or a smartphone, the driver receives guidance within their field of view. Virtual elements can be superimposed on the real-world environment—for instance, directional cues or warnings can be displayed directly over the relevant section of the road.

WayRay uses its own holographic technology, which enables the creation of virtual images on transparent surfaces. The company is considering its application not only in cars but also in public transport.

In 2026, WayRay also introduced its Side Windows solution—a digital system for train side windows. The windows can display route information, current and upcoming stations, transfer details, and other data for passengers.

For the average person, the concept behind the technology is simple: a window or a car windshield can turn into an additional information screen, eliminating the need to constantly shift one's gaze to a separate display.

WayRay continues to develop the technology in 2026; however, there is not yet widespread adoption of its automotive AR system across all vehicles.

Update date: August 2026.
