LiveWire S4 Honcho: new electric mini-motorcycles for city riding and leisure

Release date: June 9, 2026 — LiveWire announced the start of production for the S4 Honcho Trail and S4 Honcho Street . The first motorcycles were scheduled to arrive at authorized dealerships in the summer of 2026.

LiveWire, a company specializing in electric motorcycles and affiliated with Harley-Davidson, expanded its lineup in 2026 with two compact models: the S4 Honcho Trail and the S4 Honcho Street. These are lightweight electric mini-motos designed for city commuting, leisure, short trips, and active use beyond standard city streets.

Production of the new models began in late May 2026. On June 9, LiveWire officially announced the start of production, with the first units scheduled for shipment to dealers in the summer. A broader presence across various markets is expected to expand throughout 2026.

Two versions of the same model

The S4 Honcho is available in two versions.

The Street is designed primarily for the city and ordinary roads. It features a lower riding position and is oriented towards road use.

The Trail is designed for dirt roads, camping trips, country excursions, and light off-roading. It is not a heavy enduro bike, but rather a compact motorcycle for more relaxed riding outside the city.

Both versions feature 12-inch wheels and a reverse gear, and fall into a category comparable to 125cc petrol motorcycles. In Europe and the UK, LiveWire indicates that the models can be ridden under the A1 license category, subject to local regulations.

Two removable batteries

One of the key features of the S4 Honcho is its battery system. The motorcycle uses two removable batteries with a combined capacity of 3.48 kWh . They can be removed from the bike and charged separately, which is convenient for owners who do not have a private garage with a charging outlet.

LiveWire claims a range of up to 53 miles (approximately 85 km) based on the WMTC cycle. At a constant speed of 20 mph, the manufacturer specifies a range of up to 73 miles (about 117 km).

Charging from 20% to 80% takes approximately two hours using a standard US 110V household outlet. Real-world range will, of course, depend on speed, temperature, the driver's weight, and driving conditions.

Up to 94 km/h

Both versions use the same powertrain. The top speed reaches 59 mph—approximately 94 km/h—and acceleration from 0 to 30 mph takes about three seconds .

At the same time, the S4 Honcho cannot be considered a heavy motorcycle. The Trail weighs around 115 kg , while the Street weighs about 121 kg, including the batteries. Seat height also differs: the Trail is slightly taller than the Street.

How much does it cost?

In the US market, the recommended price is $4,999 for the S4 Honcho Trail and $5,499 for the S4 Honcho Street. In Europe, prices vary by country. For example, the official LiveWire website lists prices for Spain at €5,399 for the Trail and €5,799 for the Street.

KYMCO manufactures the S4 Honcho, while LiveWire leverages Harley-Davidson's dealer network to expand sales.

Who are the new LiveWire models for?

The S4 Honcho is not an attempt to create an electric replacement for a large touring motorcycle. The idea here is different: to make an electric vehicle that is compact, relatively affordable, and easy to use.

The Street model is better suited for the city and daily commuting, while the Trail is ideal for country getaways, camping, dirt roads, and leisure.

The arrival of the S4 Honcho highlights another trend in the electric motorcycle market: manufacturers are beginning to produce not only powerful, high-end machines but also more compact models that appeal to novice riders and those seeking a simple electric vehicle for short trips.
